I am consistently amazed by the fluid splendor of our natural world. In both the Berkshires and in the Adirondacks, the weather and landscape fluctuate constantly. The same field or pond can be moody and forlorn and then, within weeks or minutes, seem newly born, optimistic, thick with light and life. This is my subject: the landscape and the moods they assume and inspire within me, the unification of artist and world. I see my painting as an act of translation in which both painter and subject are reflected, transformed, and eventually conjoined.
